Rapia is a solid wood sideboard with a soft look and feel. The difference is visible at the edges: the natural grain continues around them because they are made from the same solid timber rather than covered with applied edging. You can feel the difference in the weight too. The solid wood drawer unit is sturdy and does not sag under load.

The frame and drawers are made from solid wood, making Rapia a true heirloom piece. Its soft-closing push-to-open mechanism adds a touch of everyday luxury.

Rapia is a bespoke product: the width, height and depth are tailored to your space. Every sideboard is handcrafted at our workshop in Ylöjärvi.

The product has been awarded the Design from Finland and Key Flag symbols.

Made to your requirements

You can choose the timber species (oak, walnut or ash), the dimensions of the sideboard, the number of drawers and the tone of the finish. You can also choose whether the drawers open with a push-to-open mechanism or handles.

Every Rapia is designed together with you and crafted from start to finish in Ylöjärvi, Pirkanmaa, near Tampere.

The timber used by Havune is sourced from Finnish suppliers with PEFC/FSC certification, helping to ensure responsible origins and sustainable forestry practices. The workshop is also equipped with solar panels that cover a significant share of its electricity needs, particularly during the summer months.

Why choose a Rapia sideboard from Havune?

The sideboard is made from solid wood, not particleboard or veneer. Its rounded corners and carefully finished details require precise craftsmanship, carried out by the same furniture maker from start to finish. The natural grain determines the final appearance, so no two Rapia sideboards are exactly alike. If standard dimensions do not suit your space, we adjust them.

With a push-to-open mechanism. The drawer front has no handle or groove; the drawer opens with a light press. If you would prefer handles, that is easy to arrange. Just mention it
in your quote request.

Rapia is a bespoke product, so the width, height and depth are made to your chosen dimensions.
The example piece is 100 cm wide, 35 cm deep and 85 cm high, with three drawers.

Yes. The example piece is 35 cm deep, while a typical sideboard is around 40–45 cm deep.
In a narrow hallway, those extra centimetres make a noticeable difference to the walking space. If needed, we can make the sideboard even shallower. At 85 cm high, the top also works well as a practical surface for everyday items.

Rapia is available in white oak, ash or walnut. The timber is sourced with PEFC or FSC certification
from Finnish suppliers. The standard finish is a matt clear hardwax oil, and the final tone is selected together with you.

Yes, and that is the starting point. Every Rapia is made to order, so the width, height, depth and
number of drawers can be tailored to your preferences. Tell us in your quote request where the sideboard will be placed and what
you plan to store in it, and we will work out the details together.

Yes. In addition to the sideboard, the Rapia collection includes a TV stand, display cabinet and stool. The same rounded corners
and turned legs are repeated throughout the collection, allowing the pieces to work beautifully together in the same room.

Rapia is handcrafted at the Havune workshop in Lakiala, Ylöjärvi, Pirkanmaa. The typical lead time is 6–12
weeks from ordering. We deliver throughout Finland.

Meet the designer

[ Joonas Sauvula ]

I grew up close to nature in Kalajoki, surrounded by skilled Ostrobothnian craftspeople. Woodworking has been part of my life since I was young, and part of my family history for even longer: my great-grandfather made furniture, handcrafted objects and violins. That same need to turn ideas into tangible objects eventually led me to establish Havune in 2019.

Today, I design and craft solid wood furniture at the Havune workshop in Lakiala, Ylöjärvi. Precise craftsmanship and visual details continue to be deeply rewarding to me. While tradition matters, I also follow contemporary interiors with curiosity. I believe even simple everyday objects should have the presence to become part of the interior while never losing sight of their function.
