Rapia is a solid wood display cabinet with a glazed upper section and solid wood panel doors below. Glassware and tableware remain on display, while everything else can be kept out of sight in the lower cabinet. Rounded corners give the piece a calm expression that works beautifully in many different interiors.

Every display cabinet is handcrafted from solid wood at our workshop in Ylöjärvi, so the dimensions can easily be tailored to your space. The standard finish is a matt clear hardwax oil.

The product has been awarded the Design from Finland and Key Flag symbols.

You can choose the timber species (oak, walnut or ash), the dimensions and the tone of the finish. Every bespoke display cabinet is designed together with the customer and crafted from start to finish in Ylöjärvi, Pirkanmaa, near Tampere.

The timber used by Havune is sourced from Finnish suppliers with PEFC/FSC certification, helping to ensure responsible origins and sustainable forestry practices. The workshop is also equipped with solar panels that cover a significant share of its electricity needs, particularly during the summer months.

Why choose a Rapia display cabinet from Havune?

A display cabinet is designed to be seen into, which means its construction is visible too: the shelf fittings, frame joints and the inner surfaces of the cabinet. Every one of these details is made from solid wood and finished with the same care as the exterior.

The lower doors are made from solid wood, not particleboard or veneer. A solid wood door requires more craftsmanship because the timber naturally responds to changes in humidity. Support battens are fitted behind each door to keep it straight. You do not see this detail when the door is closed, which is exactly why it is worth mentioning.

[ Frequently asked questions ]

Yes. The glass shelves are suitable for glassware and bottles.
Behind the solid lower doors, bottles remain protected from light, which is better for wine and other drinks
than storing them behind glass. Tell us the height of your bottles in the quote request
and we will size the lower section accordingly.

Rapia is a bespoke product, so the width, height and depth are made to your chosen dimensions.
The example piece is 100 cm wide, 43 cm deep and 180 cm high. Tell us the available
height and width of the room and we will size the display cabinet to fit.

Clear glass is standard, but patterned glass is also possible. Just mention your preference in the quote request!

With a push-to-open mechanism. The doors have no handles or grooves. If you would prefer handles, we can make
the display cabinet with them. Just mention it in your quote request.

Solid wood responds naturally to changes in humidity, which is why support battens are fitted behind each solid door
to keep it straight. This is one of the reasons a solid wood door can remain straight for decades.

Rapia is available in oak, ash or walnut. The timber is sourced from PEFC- or FSC-certified
Finnish suppliers. The standard finish is a matt clear hardwax oil, and the final tone is selected together with you.

Yes. In addition to the display cabinet, the Rapia collection includes a sideboard, TV stand and stool. The same rounded corners
and tapered legs are repeated throughout the collection, allowing the pieces to work beautifully together in the same room.

Rapia is handcrafted at the Havune workshop in Lakiala, Ylöjärvi, Pirkanmaa. The typical lead time is 6–12
weeks from ordering. We deliver throughout Finland.

Meet the designer

[ Joonas Sauvula ]

I grew up close to nature in Kalajoki, surrounded by skilled Ostrobothnian craftspeople. Woodworking has been part of my life since I was young, and part of my family history for even longer: my great-grandfather made furniture, handcrafted objects and violins. That same need to turn ideas into tangible objects eventually led me to establish Havune in 2019.

Today, I design and craft solid wood furniture at the Havune workshop in Lakiala, Ylöjärvi. Precise craftsmanship and visual details continue to be deeply rewarding to me. While tradition matters, I also follow contemporary interiors with curiosity. I believe even simple everyday objects should have the presence to become part of the interior while never losing sight of their function.
